Parker Future Students
Transfer Students
A transfer student is defined as a student who transfers to Parker College from a chiropractic college, graduate school, medical university, or other first professional degree-granting institution acceptable to the Admissions Committee.
Transfer students must attend all scheduled orientation sessions and abide by the same student regulations as non-transfer students. These regulations are in place so students better understand Parker College policies, procedures, and educational opportunities. Transfer students must reapply for financial aid at Parker College, and like all students, must be fully matriculated to receive financial aid.
Credits accepted for transfer must have been awarded within five years of the date of admission to the receiving D.C. program, except that the receiving D.C. program may, at its discretion, accept older credits if the entering student holds an earned doctorate in one of the health sciences (e.g., D.C., M.D., D.O., D.D.S., D.P.M.) or a graduate degree in an academic discipline closely related to the health sciences. Credits must have a 2.00 on a 4.00 scale to be accepted for transfer.
Transfer Students from Chiropractic Colleges
Students who wish to transfer from another chiropractic college must meet the admissions requirements that were in effect at Parker College of Chiropractic at the time the student first entered a D.C. program at another chiropractic college. Students must have either left in good standing or be eligible to return to the last institution attended. Students from chiropractic colleges must submit an official transcript from the chiropractic college previously attended along with a letter of good standing from that institution. The previous institution must be an accredited institution recognized by the Council on Chiropractic Education. No student who interrupts their chiropractic education for more than five years will be allowed credit or credit in transfer for course work taken previously. Transfer students will not be conditionally accepted until a letter of good standing dated no more than 30 days prior is received by the Admissions Office.
Parker College does not encourage transfers from chiropractic colleges, especially beyond the initial trimesters. Because of the variety in course sequencing and equivalency of various chiropractic colleges, transfer students may be affected in terms of time spent in school, special schedules, and the overall cohesiveness of their chiropractic education and total cost of the chiropractic education.
Transfer Students from Medical, Graduate, First Professional Schools
Students from medical colleges or other first professional degree granting institutions must meet the same admission requirements as all other candidates for admission. Official transcripts from all pre-professional and professional schools must be submitted to meet admission requirements.
Advanced Standing
Transfer students admitted to Parker College may be given advanced standing credit based on course work deemed acceptable by the Vice President of Academic Affairs. To be considered, courses must be equivalent in terms of credit hours, contact hours, content and quality to that of Parker College.
Parker College makes no guarantee that a transfer student will receive advanced standing credit. Parker College, makes no guarantee that advanced standing credit will allow the student to complete all requirements for the Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in less than the normal length of time.
Course descriptions must be provided for all courses taken at institutions outside the U.S. for which advanced standing is requested. The descriptions should describe the course in detail and list lecture and/or lab contact hours. Submit course descriptions in the original language of instruction as well as a certified English translation.
