What is the philosophy of Parker College of Chiropractic?
Parker College is a leading advocate of chiropractic wellness—a set of values and behaviors that promote physical, mental, and spiritual health and well-being and enhance the quality of life. The primary component is the chiropractic adjustment, and factors such as nutrition, exercise, and healthy relationships serve as support. Chiropractic philosophy is based upon the idea that the body’s innate intelligence allows it to be self-healing as long as the nervous system—which is the master system—is functioning properly. Misalignments of spinal vertebrae called “subluxations” disturb the energy flow throughout the body, and only by removing those interferences can the body restore and maintain its health. Parker’s philosophy also incorporates evidence-based and diagnostic procedures into the scope of patient care.

How many techniques are taught at Parker College of Chiropractic and what are they?
Parker College offers nine techniques as part of the core curriculum, providing students with exposure to a variety of adjusting methods.

What is the outlook for the future of the chiropractic profession?
Because Americans are becoming more health conscious, the demand for holistic, alternative health care is increasing. As a result, chiropractors are experiencing a faster than average growth in employment rate, with job placement expected to rise 14 percent through 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Recent research studies have helped change public perception about the safety of chiropractic, which is making it a more popular and accepted treatment plan for neck, back, and extremity pain. In 2005, the average salary for chiropractors was $104,363 according to a survey conducted by Chiropractic Economics magazine. Since chiropractic is noninvasive, malpractice insurance rates are drastically lower than traditional medical practices. A typical chiropractor spends less than five thousand dollars on malpractice insurance compared to upwards of 150 thousand for other medical specialties.

Where do Parker students come from?
Our student body is incredibly diverse, with students coming from all over the United States, Canada, and more than 75 foreign countries.

Can I work while I am attending Parker College?
Because of the intensive nature of Parker College’s curriculum, we encourage students to devote as much time to school and studying as possible. However, we understand that financial responsibilities may require some students to seek employment during their academic career. Approximately 30 percent of our students work part-time, and Parker College has several work-study programs available to students. International students may have several restrictions placed on their eligibility to work.
