Parker Facts

Chiropractic is one of the fastest growing primary health care professions, and it is the second largest primary health care delivery system in the world. The main reason is results! It is safe, and essentially painless. Chiropractic restores health, relieves pain and restores life with drug-free, surgery-free, natural, holistic methods.

Gray's Anatomy (30th edition, page 5) says: "The nervous system controls and coordinates all of the other organs and structures, and relates the individual to his environment." Even though Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) can help patients with nutrition and healthier lifestyles and a host of holistic help, the basic science upon which chiropractic is founded is the free functioning nervous system. The nervous system is freed by chiropractic adjustments of what is called "vertebral subluxations" of the spine.

The public often thinks of the chiropractor as a bone doctor. But a chiropractor, is really a nerve specialist. They adjust bones and structures in order to free nerves from impingement or irritation. And since the nervous system controls the human body by providing the "life force," the whole body may benefit.

There are some 55,000 chiropractors practicing throughout the world: USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, South Africa, Israel, Mexico, South and Central America and throughout Europe. Parker College itself is represented among students, applicants and alumni from 93 foreign countries.

The profession of chiropractic celebrated its 100th year in 1995. In its comparatively brief history, Doctors of Chiropractic have cared for an estimated 50-60 million people. Chiropractors are licensed and regulated in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and in certain countries in Europe
