Meet the 2009 Parker Alumni Association Award Recipients

Dr. James W. Parker
Award
2009 JWP Award

Dr. Michael Hall '90 is one of the most highly regarded chiropractic neurologists in our profession. For more than 11 years he has taught the students enrolled at Parker College. A recent graduate wrote on her nomination form, “Thousands of chiropractors around the globe have heard Dr. Hall speak and have been inspired by his amazing ability to communicate the complexity and intricacy of neurology into clinically relevant terms. Dr. Hall has challenged me personally to take chiropractic to a new level and I attribute much of my success to his leadership.” His vision and passion for the profession are felt by anyone who has the chance to listen to him lecture. He alone has spoken around the world to thousands of doctors. Another person wrote on his nomination form, “There is no Parker Principle Dr. Hall does not live by. He exemplifies every principle with every breath he takes.”

Since graduating from Parker in 1999, Dr. Patrick Bodnar has devoted his career to improving the business management and communication skills of thousands of doctors who have sat through his lectures at Parker Seminars and in class at Parker College of Chiropractic. While he focuses much of his day on educating the students at Parker, all other moments are spent helping hundreds of doctors and CAs each year review real estate contracts, establish a price to sell or buy a clinic, understand how to keep overhead as low as possible and anything pertaining to the running of a business. The Parker Alumni Association is so proud to not only have him as a member but have him as an advocate. We feel his contributions will truly make this profession stronger by strengthening our communication and business skills.

Young Alumni of the Year
2009 Young Alum of year

Dr Marco La Starza is the perfect candidate for us to recognize with this award. Since the young age of 5 years old, he has been receiving adjustments on a regular basis. Throughout his life he taught those people he met about the value of chiropractic care. While as a Parker student, he made deans list, was a part of almost every club possible, and participated in Chiro Games. Shortly after graduating in 2004, he returned to his home state of Florida to work with other established doctors who taught him the business. In 2008, he opened his first clinic in Rockledge, FL. He focused his marketing on his community by getting involved in numerous non-profit, civic, and government organizations. His involvement not only got him patients, but state-wide press when a local news station ran a feature story on him called “Good Guy Chiropractor Volunteers Time.” A patient of his wrote to us and said ‘as a young child, I frequently observed Dr. B. J. Palmer in Davenport provide his unique and successful practice techniques on my mother. Dr. La Starza is a most talented modern practitioner and presents himself in the same professional talent as did Dr. Palmer.” This is from a retired colonel in the U.S. Army.
