Parker College of Chiropractic Named 2009 Health Care Hero Employer

By the Dallas Business Journal

June 26, 2009 (Dallas, Texas) — Parker College of Chiropractic has been selected by the Dallas Business Journal (DBJ) as a 2009 Health Care Hero. Each year, the Dallas Business Journal recognizes companies as Health Care Heroes for innovations in health-related benefits and wellness programs for employees. This year, Parker College of Chiropractic won the 2009 Health Care Hero Employer Award, along with three other deserving recipients. The DBJ received more than 100 nominations from companies throughout North Texas who had hoped to woo the DBJ panel of editors and bring home this coveted award.

“Parker College of Chiropractic is fortunate to be recognized among this elite group of health care professionals dedicated to the health and well-being of its employees,” says Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker. “We offer some of the best wellness benefits around, including free chiropractic care for families and pets. Creating a nurturing and caring work environment for our employees is paramount to maintaining the high standard that flows within the Chiropractic culture of healing. Walking and working in wellness is who we are and what we do every day.”

Parker College actively promotes a healthy work environment for employees and encourages them to make positive lifestyle choices. Within the past year, Parker College implemented a customized program that enables employees to identify their possible health risks and empowers them to improve their health with the help of individualized action plans and support tools. Employees who participate in the program are eligible for lower insurance rates and can even be reimbursed for their gym memberships. The Parker Wellness Committee collaborates with the HR department to provide and coordinate wellness opportunities and activities for employees.

“One of the primary goals of Parker College is to be a leader and advocate for chiropractic wellness so it is only fitting that Parker encourages its employees to participate in activities that result in healthier lifestyles,” said Nancy Scheps, director of Human Resources. “The campus culture is saturated with wellness concepts. The college exhibits an attitude of health and wellness, and the atmosphere encourages healthy behavior.”

The faculty and staff at Parker College are largely comprised of individuals specializing in various health care professions. This advanced level of education in health and wellness enables employees to actively share knowledge, counsel colleagues to live their best life, and most importantly, creates a strong sense of community.

All 2009 honorees are featured in a special Dallas Business Journal Health Care Heroes publication.
