The Dallas Environment

Dallas is located in north-central Texas, just 70 miles south of the Oklahoma border, and approximately 250 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico. The city is positioned on rolling plains, lined with native pecan, cottonwood, and oak trees on the waters of the Trinity River. Its climate is humid and subtropical, distinguished by hot summers and mild winters.
 
Within a 100-mile radius of the city, there are more than 60 lakes and over 50,000 acres of public parks. Dallas City Parks and Recreation Department offers year-round activities at recreational facilities and parks throughout the city. Just minutes from downtown, White Rock Lake features a scenic park with 9 miles of running, biking, and walking trails as well as exceptional fishing, sailing and various picnic and relaxing activities. Bachman Lake, near Love Field Airport, is another favorite spot for many walkers, joggers and bikers who utilize the three-mile water front course which includes several exercise stations. Katy Trail is a 3.5 mile pedestrian and bicycle path that runs through some of the most beautiful parts of Dallas.

Dallas Love Field Airport provides the best that can be offered in a convenient, efficient airport, serving both commercial airline and corporate user needs. Located in the heart of Dallas, Cedar Springs at Mockingbird, the airfield is 20 minutes from Parker College.

Dallas Rapid Area Transit provides transportation to 13 cities with rail, bus, paratransit, HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lanes, rideshare services and to Fort Worth via Trinity Railway Express.
